THE RR Fisher motorised conveyor drum is a fully self-contained drive unit used as the driving force in a conveyor system.
Of particular advantage to the food industry of the motorised drum over a conventional drive system, is in having no exposed gearbox, electric motor, sprockets, and chain drive.
This ensures no grease contamination and no hard to clean areas where fungal growth can occur. Minimal maintenance is required, saving time and money, while the unit is oil-filled for efficient lubrication and heat transfer.
The unit comprises of a 415V/240V 3-phase electric motor connected to a gear train. It is housed in an electro zinc plated and crowned steel shell, with aluminium endcaps double sealed to IP65 protection.
This ensures against ingress of water, making the drum suitable for washdown applications, such as in the meat and food processing industries. It can also be manufactured in complete stainless steel where the standard is required.
The shell is crowned to ensure accurate belt tracking and the shafts are stainless steel. The units are fitted with a terminal box for easy power hookup or a lead can be fitted as an option.
The RR Fisher motorised drum comes in a number of diameters, lengths, kilowatts and speeds to suit most conveyor applications. It can be fitted with a cam clutch to provide anti-rollback if required.
Other components available are tail pulleys made to the same external specification as the drive drum, and heavy duty galvanised or stainless steel mounting plates and bolts for ease of installation.
