RF Micro Devices, represented by RF Parts Australia , has released the RF5198 high-power, high-efficiency linear power amplifier (PA) module for WCDMA handset applications. By incorporating a power detector on-chip it significantly reduces design complexity and streamlines the handset design process, enabling manufacturers to quickly bring their products to market.
It is a self-contained PA module with 50O input and output and is internally matched to obtain optimum power, efficiency and linearity. It is manufactured on a third-generation GaAs HBT process and is designed for use as the final RF amplifier in 3V WCDMA handheld digital cellular equipment in the 1920MHz to 1980MHz bands.
It has a digital control line to lower quiescent current for increased talk time in low power conditions. It comes in a 16-pin 3mm x 3mm QFN package with better thermal dissipation than traditional laminate-based modules.
