RF Innovations’ Crescendo series of data radio modems is being used in an increasing number in underground mining applications.
The UHF and VHF versions of the radio have reliable use in underground mining telemetry and control systems.
The Crescendo series of data radio modems is being used as part of remote tagging systems to track personnel and vehicles within the tunnels of an underground mine.
The radio tagging system allows for flexible installation of infrastructure, so the system can be easily changed as the mine changes.
The Crescendo series of data radio modems are also used in underground SCADA control systems for water and fan monitoring and control.
The radios are used as a link between the office control systems and the underground remote outstations within the mine. The systems allow for remote data acquisition, control and alarming for airflow and water levels at the remote locations.
The wireless data units are also an important part in trolley and shaft control systems. Input and output signals are sent wirelessly between the trolley or cage to the winder to control the descent into the underground mine site.
Alarm signals and emergency stop signals are also sent, so that equipment can immediately switch to failsafe mode.
The data radio incorporates features for useability and functionality, which are important for underground radio systems and noisy RF environments such as Forward Error Correction, remote radio diagnostics, configurable receive threshold levels and options for split RF ports.
Transparent and packet radio modes also give the user a choice between a simple radio connection or a more reliable data link with in-built error checking and retries.
