Integrated engineering company RCR Tomlinson Ltd has been awarded a turnkey contract to provide a process steam boiler plant for Fonterra’s Drier 2 Project in Darfield, New Zealand.
Valued at approximately $20 million, the contract includes the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of a 45MWth (approx. 65 tonnes per hour) coal-fired steam boiler and associated equipment.
Fonterra is a major diversified milk processing company and a world-leading exporter of dairy products. The Drier 2 Project is the second stage of expansion at Fonterra’s newest processing site near Christchurch with the boiler designed to feed steam to an extremely large milk powder drier.
The work is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2013.
RCR’s Managing Director Paul Dalgleish says the contract is the latest in a series of successful energy projects being executed for Fonterra. The current contract in addition to RCR’s recent Yarnima project continues to build the RCR Energy business following their AE&E acquisition last year.
