RCR Tomlinson has been awarded a contract to provide power generation works for BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s Yarnima combined cycle power station in Newman, Western Australia.
Valued at approximately $30 million, the contract includes the design, manufacture and supply of three Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) and associated equipment.
With work on the project set to commence immediately, completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2013.
RCR Managing Director Paul Dalgleish notes that the contract is the first major power generation contract awarded to the company using AE&E Australia technology, which was acquired by RCR in May last year.
"It’s good to get this project into our Energy division following the acquisition so we can continue to develop the team and reinvigorate client relationships", Dr Dalgleish explains.
"RCR continues to demonstrate the depth of its intellectual property in energy technologies that we can offer to customers in both the industrial and utility sectors. Our capabilities include design, supply and installation of Combined Cycle Power Plants that incorporate HRSGs," he concludes.
