Non-contact Laser Length and Speed gauges
Non-contact Laser Length and Speed gauges

Proton Products have released their latest series of Non-contact Laser Length and Speed gauges. Non-contact Laser Length and Speed gauges, available from Quality In Control , are designed to measure length and speed accurately on almost any surface and are suitable for products made of foam, timber, plastics, paper, steel and fibre insulation.

Non-contact Laser Length and Speed gauges have no slippage and provide good accuracy and repeatability down to 0.05%. Typical measuring wheels with encoders achieve at best an accuracy of around 1% on smooth product surfaces. It gets worse when products are not smooth or the surface contact to the wheel is small. Then, measurement variations of 4 or 5 % are commonplace.

With Non-contact Laser Length and Speed gauges, the surface properties have virtually no effect on accuracy.

Proton Non-contact Laser Length and Speed gauges are designed to seamlessly integrate with existing measuring and control systems. They can simulate existing encoder signals and thus make the switch transparent to the operators.

The new Non-contact Laser Length and Speed gauge series comes in operating ranges of 30, 60 and 120mm and centre working distances of 600 and 1200mm.

New to the range of Non-contact Laser Length and Speed gauges are two types of heavy-duty protective enclosures that make the gauges suitable for even the most demanding environments, i.e. the SLX series has both water cooling and internal air purging to make the unit suitable for hot-rolling mills and other similar applications.
