To get certified, a business finds a Quality Auditor to assess whether their quality system is implemented and functioning correctly. Anything not functioning in accordance with the ISO 9001 Standard requirements is reported for follow-up.
This may not stop the business from getting certified, but the matter must be checked and signed out by the auditor at a later scheduled time. Gaining certification is dependent on the nature of non-conformance (items needing attention).
