- FRP has been the material of choice for horizontal and vertical pumps performing various functions throughout RO plants.
- Specifically:
- Seawater intake
- Filter feed
- Intermediate booster or raw water transfer
- Filter backwash
- Cleaning recirculation
- Flushing
- Permeate water pumps
- Neutralisation pumps
Statiflo Static Mixers
Where static mixers are required in desalination plants:
Pre Desalination:
- At the inlet to the Desalination works chlorine is dosed to prevent seaweed and shellfish growth
- Upstream of the DAF or gravity filters, sea water is then treated using dosed sulphuric acid for pH Correction to about 6.8 and dosed ferric chloride for coagulation
During Desalination Treatment:
- Before the first pass dosed sodium bisulphite needs to be thoroughly mixed to prevent concentrated chlorine entering and damaging the delicate membranes
- Next an antiscalant is mixed to prevent the precipitation of salts and scaling of the membranes
- Further dosed ferric chloride for coagulation
- Caustic soda for further pH control may be required as RO permeate is slightly acidic
Post Treatment:
- CO2 gas for re-carbonating of the permeate water
- Lime water for pH control and for re-mineralizing of the permeate water.
- Sodium Fluorosilicate is dosed prior to supply for improvement of dental health
