Onesteel’s customer, Protective Fencing provided all the fencing for the Second Gateway Bridge in Brisbane.
This included their Promax welded mesh fencing. Protective Fencing Promax uses Onesteel’s 4.00mm Medium Zalcote XL Wire.
The bridge is 50m downstream from the first bridge and built to the same distinctive shape. At its highest point the bridge is over 65m above the Brisbane River and the welded mesh fencing is an important safety feature.
Protective Fencing General Manager, Trevor Buwalda said, “The Gateway Bridge was a very large and significant project for Protective Fencing as we supplied over 200Tonnes of Promax Mesh into Brisbane for the project…..It required very close planning between Protective Fencing and LAJV and relied heavily on Onesteel’s Wire being supplied on time and to the right quality.”
The welded mesh fencing was used as not only barrier fencing on both sides of the new Bridge and on the new cycleway but it was also retrofitted to the existing Gateway Bridge.
In addition, Promax using Onesteel Wire, was fitted to the overhead gantries on the new Gateway Motorway and on the Ipswich Motorway to prevent objects falling or being thrown from the bridge and to keep vandals out.
