NEWCASTLE-based company Protectelec has introduced the revolutionary Protex Switching Technology, a system that prevents electrocution and protects appliances from electrical damage.
Protex is an electrical safety product that has the dual benefit of protecting lives and appliances from electrical damage.
Protex is approximately four times faster than current commercial systems, it does not draw power until a fault is detected and it can be encapsulated for use in wet areas. Around the home and work place it will improve electrical safety in bathrooms, laundries and kitchens areas.
Protectelec is currently working towards having a dc protection system available for inverters early in the new-year. Inverters are those increasingly popular and very handy electronic devices that convert battery power to 240V ac power.
They are popular in caravans, garages and anywhere portable power is required, but they lack a reliable electrical safety system. Protex solves the electrical safety problems preventing electrocution and protecting equipment connected to the inverter.
The system has been thoroughly tested, with external, independent tests conducted by Testing and Certification Australia and an Australian University.
Protectelec has been busy preparing the Protex Electrical Safety House. The house, located in the Newcastle area, fitted with Protex, will be used to further develop electrical safety.
