Profibus Australia announced a record gross turnover for 2011 according to trading figures presented at the AGM earlier this year.

Highlights included enrolments in Certified Profibus Training programmes conducted by Profibus Association of Australia , which rose dramatically due to increased demand from leading companies in the mining industry as well as water and wastewater sectors.

PAA Chairman Rafael Koenig explains that Profibus Australia has benefitted from the rising demand from Asia for minerals, which has resulted in mining companies in WA and QLD ramping up production. These companies have realised that Certified Training is the fastest way to improve the efficiency of their process, resulting in a corresponding increase in demand for PAA’s training programmes.

A 30% increase in membership among end-users and vendors was another highlight, reflecting dramatic growth in fieldbus technology in the process and manufacturing sectors over recent years.

In 2011 the PAA chose to re-invest a large percentage of their revenue back into the association by initiating a number of marketing communication campaigns aimed at developing the local market, including a new online newsletter distributing local news and new product information to end-users as well as telemarketing campaigns promoting PAA's Certified Training programmes and the successful Profibus Technical Expo in Perth.
