Profibus expert Andy Verwer is preparing for his upcoming Australian training tour that will take place in May. This will be the eleventh training tour that the UK based Profibus expert has conducted.
Profibus is Australia’s leading fieldbus technology within the process and manufacturing industries. Verwer explains that in his experience although many companies in Australia use Profibus technology there is a real need for further training as unnecessary problems can be commonplace due to misinformation. Many organisations can therefore benefit from the certified training programmes provided by Profibus Association of Australia .
Although Profibus as a technology is reasonably new in Australia, the mining and water industries have willingly adopted the fieldbus technology.
Due to the complex nature of the system design and technology organisations are often insist that engineers are not only qualified but Profibus certified. Fortescue Metals group are a WA mining company that installed Profibus in the past have have noticed significant improvements after receiving training. Mark Foster, a Senior Engineer at Fortescue, explains that staff are more confident “having completed the training”.
Verwer believes Australia will experience a surge in Profibus interest over the next five years, particularly in mining, brewing and food production. He explainss that more industries will begin to using Profibus technology, and subsequently look for support from organisations such as Profibus Association of Australia.
