Lean principles are not just for manufacturing - for many organisations over 60% of the costs of products and services can be attributed to administration processes.

The Lean Office Summit, 9th of September, will take participants from the concepts and principles of the Lean office through to the practical aspects of implementation.

Participants in the Lean Office Summit will be shown how to reduce waste, improve customer and employee satisfaction, and all elements of a sustainable organisation.

Bringing together four Lean leaders and their perspectives on the Lean Office:

  • an International developer and author
  • a National facilitator and
  • two South Australian practitioners applying the tools and techniques

Don Tapping from USA is recognised as one of the most up to date global leaders in Lean Office. He is a Practitioner, Developer of Lean Tools and Techniques as well as being an established bestselling Author. Don will explain and demonstrate Lean principles with a ‘hands on’ simulation. A key feature of his approach is providing the ‘How To’. This includes the step-by-step implementation methodologies participants can apply in their office and administration areas.

Graham Eagles from Productivity Australia has facilitated the introduction of Lean in a wide variety of workplaces across Australia. Graham will explain how to make workflow obvious and synchronous in an office environment and describe the practical application of Lean principles, tools and techniques.

Brenton Pike from the Lands Titles Office will take participants through an actual case study on the introduction of the Lean Office principles into a Public Sector agency and demonstrate the steps they took and the challenges they overcame. The results being a reduction in lead times and an increase in staff morale.

Darren Toy from Community CPS has been improving office productivity for over six years and will outline the lessons he and his team have learnt during that time. Strategic intent, people and culture, tools and techniques will all be covered as well as ‘visuality’ in the office.

Service and administration processes are often overlooked in Lean management and continuous improvement initiatives. During the day participants will not only hear about concepts and a powerful approach to productivity improvement in their office but also learn about tools and techniques and how they have been used in a challenging workplace.
