NX Version 6 software with Synchronous Technology from Product Lifecycle Management

The NX Version 6 software with Synchronous Technology is available from Product Lifecycle Management (Australasia).

With several new system-wide innovations and design updates, the software suite promises to deliver high productivity benefits to its many users in the manufacturing and engineering industries.

“I believe this to be a transformative technology – one that represents an important inflection point in the CAM/CAD industry,” says Evan Yares from the Open Design Alliance.

For over thirty years, NX/Unigraphics has provided solutions to demanding customers for difficult manufacturing requirements.

The wide-ranging and sophisticated solutions it offers range from basic turning applications to a complex multi-spindle, multi-axis combination machines. This latest release makes NX an easy CAD/CAM system to learn, use and interface to 3rd party CAD data.

Making multi-function machining easier

Increasingly, manufacturers are looking to consolidate machine and tooling set-ups, as well as combine multiple manufacturing steps into a single set-up. Such consolidation can reap massive savings, reduce overheads and increase production significantly.

However, multi-function machines are not without their challenges. The Synchronisation Manager in Siemens PLM Software’s latest NX CAM solution goes a long way toward mitigating the challenges, risks and expenses of using multi-function machines to manufacture products.

When fully utilised, the Synchronisation Manager orchestrates several of the NX functionalities and allows exact and very detailed examination of all the programmable axes’ motions.

Satisfied customer

Bradken, suppliers of differentiated consumable products to the resources and freight rail industries, recently integrated NX with its new BDG 605 five-axis CNC, which it purchased from machine tools manufacturer BDG.

Bradken then worked with Product Lifecycle Management to ensure successful integration of NX with the new machinery.

“The integration was seamless and easily accomplished,” said Mark Pivac, director of BDG. “PLMA demonstrated the simple reality of five-axis machining by getting inexperienced operators productive in a short timeframe.”

“The NX training was very effective and efficient and has therefore reduced the time expected for programmers to be able to produce finished work,” reported William Bacon, Assistant Plant Engineer, Bradken.

Product Lifecycle Management provides all the specialist services needed by the tool making, die making, pattern making and metal cutting industries, including the following:

  • Post Processor development
  • Machine Tool and Cutter Path Simulation and Visualisation
  • Tool Path optimisation
  • HSM (High Speed Machining) strategies
  • CNC and CAD/CAM consulting
  • CAD/CAM training
