Mine planning made easy
The power of Product Lifecycle Management Australasia’s new NX Nastran solver and Femap 9 CAD/CAE integrator strategy helps mine engineers effectively conduct finite and stress analysis on equipment and associated structures.
NX Nastran for Femap can successfully analyse general mining and materials handling items – hoppers, stackers, reclaimers, bins, large buildings – and the vibrations that these and other machines cause.
The software is useful for determining vibration characteristics of buildings and equipment, and to determine stresses, deflections and accelerations when subject to static and dynamic loads.
This helps determine areas where existing equipment wants strengthening to prolong life, and prevent cracking and early failure.
The company says using the software during the design process achieves maximum life and minimum plant downtime.
According to plm, the integrator strategy allows Femap to create 3D models as a stand-alone modeller or to import most CAD models and formats. Exceptional FE modelling and result post processing capabilities make Femap a suitable choice in mining and materials handling.
With the integrator strategy, Femap can communicate with many CAE solvers.
NX Nastran is based on MSC.Nastran and can support a range of commonly used engineering simulations: linear static structural analysis, non-linear structural analysis, inertia relief, normal modes for vibration, structural buckling, composites, basic fluid flow interaction, and steady state and transient heat transfer.
