CAD/CAM training boost for Uni
PRODUCT Lifecycle Management Australasia (plm) is to provide ongoing training to the engineering and art design faculties of Victoria’s Monash University, following the institution’s recent $12m windfall under a ‘PACE’ agreement.
The university became the first in Australia to work with US-based Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education (PACE), a corporate alliance that supports key educational institutions to technically prepare engineering and design students for a future workforce.
Due to its strong, official representation in Australia of the CAD/CAM/CAE and product lifecycle management software suites used under this agreement, plm will have an ongoing association and partnership with the university.
The $12m grant from PACE will be utilised to integrate 3-D solid modelling and other parametrics-based applications into design, engineering, and manufacturing curricula, thus linking industry and academia to better prepare students for the future.
PACE is providing the industry-specific software and hardware, while plm will oversee training of undergraduates, postgraduates and staff in product development activities with CAD, CAM and CAE software.
