DATA I/O and M-Systems have created a high-speed gang programming solution specifically for M-Systems’ high capacity memory products. It is available from ProDigital .

FlashPAK is designed for high-speed programming of M-Systems’ DiskOnChip devices, primarily in prototype and low-volume production. It is a four socket high-speed gang programmer, sold under the name FlashPAK-MSYS.

M-Systems' DiskOnChip is a family of high-performance, single-chip Flash disks available in a range of storage capacities. DiskOnChip technology is intended for applications including mobile handsets, set-top boxes, and point of sale. These applications need increasing amounts of internal NVM memory to store growing operating systems, new applications, user data, and multimedia content.

The system uses M-Systems’ True Flash File System. This makes Flash file management and NAND bad block management accurate and efficient. The system programs and verifies M-Systems devices at speeds as fast as 0.19 seconds per Mbit.

The system provides manufacturers of wireless handsets, PDAs, set top boxes, smart appliances, and telecom and networking products with the ability to rapidly program M-Systems DiskOnChip products in prototype and production. This removes delays in time to market. For high volume programming, Data I/O inline and offline production programming systems offer automated production programming on the same FlashCORE high-speed programming platform as FlashPAK.

Four programming sites on FlashPAK-MSYS support programming of TSOP, BGA, fBGA or DIP packages. Data I/O TaskLink for Windows is included with all FlashPAK programming systems. It provides management tools for creating and executing programming tasks. A software upgrade allows the system to support additional Flash and microcontroller devices.
