The Queensland branch of Preston Group
supplied a rubber-tracked mobile crane on hire to Hutchinson Builders for a lifting and positioning job on a tight construction site.
Hutchinson Builders is currently carrying out construction of The Midtown Apartments, a 28-storey mixed-use development located in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD. The mobile crane provided excellent manoeuvrability and flexibility on the space restricted worksite.
Preston (QLD) was engaged to help Hutchinson Builders stress pretension strings within the slab layers of the mixed-use development by lifting and positioning a hydraulic jack over the back podium level façade. Unable to use a scissor lift or boom lift due to the limited access on the narrow site, a mobile crane with superior lifting capability was supplied to do the job.
Site manager Peter Hadley said that they were impressed with the lifting capabilities of the compact Preston mobile crane. The small size of the crane allowed them to complete the work without being too cumbersome.
The Maeda MC-305 mobile cranes can be hired across Preston Group’s branch network. Measuring 1280mm in width when stowed, the crane weighs only 3770kg and offers superior lifting capacity with the optional flexibility of applying a searcher hook.
Preston Group operates a large fleet of mobile cranes and crawlers in Australia for use in narrow access area construction.
