WITH many agricultural and industrial engines operating in unattended situations, an automatic safety shutdown system is a high priority for many farmers and contractors.

Power Equipment has now successfully addressed this issue with the release of a practical, functional and affordable engine protection and management system for the Yanmar TF series electric start diesel engines.

Developed by Power Equipment the Australian distributor for the Yanmar diesel engine company of Japan, the new system constantly monitors a series of performance inputs.

In the event the management system detects low oil pressure, high water temperature, fan belt failure, abnormal pump pressure or is tripped by the 24 hour timer, the fully automated system shuts the engine down.

The Yanmar shutdown kit is manufactured to suit the TF series of Yanmar diesel engines. Typically, these engines are used in irrigation and power generation applications, both in agricultural and industrial settings.

Two of the priorities in designing the engine shutdown system were the ability to run the engine in the event of a flat battery and to give the engine a variable speed capability.

Previously, these engines and those similar, needed to be set at a fixed engine speed which could not be adjusted. This new system enables the engine to be started manually if the battery is flat.

Price was also a key issue in developing the kit. The new shutdown kit sells for around 30 per cent less than previously available kits.

The TF shutdown system is only available as a factory fitted accessory to new engines and is not compatible as an after market kit for retro fitting.
