The Australian Federal Chamber of Automotive Industry have released results that reveal that whilst the ATV market has shrunk 7% in 2010, Polaris Industries bucked the trend with 3910 ATV sales, 14% more than 2009 and a sixth consecutive annual sales record for Australian subsidiary of the off-road vehicle manufacturer.
“Polaris has been building a loyal customer base for years. The word keeps spreading - nothing rides like a Polaris” says Peter Alexander, Managing Director of Polaris Australia.
The big wins for Polaris were:
- being named Australia’s number one ATV brand for the last 3 months of 2010
- doubled sales of Polaris Ranger Utility Vehicles, reflective of the company's 4x4 and 6x6 petrol and electric model lineup
- 15% growth in youth ATV sales, led by Outlaw 90, the only major brand 90cc ATV with reverse gear; and
- the new RZR170 - the world’s first youth Side by Side.
Polaris’ most popular model ATV was again the Hawkeye 2X4.
For 2011, Polaris is confident it will please more Australian farmers with three new models due to be launched early in the year, Polaris Ranger Diesel, a new, full-size Sportsman 400 and a mid-size Ranger 500EFI.
Polaris have also noticed a shift in the farming community from ATVs to Side by Side utility vehicles, and with this in mind Polaris Australia have worked hard to develop and test the Ranger Diesel simultaneously in Outback Australia and Minnesota.
"When we leaked to our dealers that we were adding a Diesel Ranger to the lineup, the response was amazing,” says Alexander.
