Diesel stored in emergency generator fuel tanks ages dramatically and within 12 months it can be reduced to an unreliable fuel source. This deterioration of fuel quality creates a multitude of problems in the storage tank and diesel engine. Sludges sitting at the bottom of the tank contain moisture, dirt and bacteria but are mostly comprised of asphaltenes and waxes from repolymerised diesel (the hydrocarbon molecule chains form “large” bundles).
Aged diesel blocks fuel filters and damages the engine due to inefficient combustion, which deposits carbon and lacquers on all internal engine surfaces. Scouring (particle damage) causes havoc from the fuel pump through to the injectors.
Algae-X offer a range of cost effective solutions for stored diesel that range from tank cleaning and fuel restoration to fuel quality maintenance systems. Algae-X clean fuel storage tanks of all sludges, without the need to empty the tank or to dispose of the old diesel. This process restores the existing diesel to near new condition. By fitting an Algae-X fuel maintenance system, one can be assured that in the future when the generator is called into action, it will have clean, optimum quality fuel to perform with.
Stored diesel deteriorates with time through the process of repolymerisation. Algae-X tank cleaning and fuel maintenance systems reverse this process and offer the following benefits:
- Improved reliability
- Reduced maintenance costs
- Improved efficiency
- Reduced pollution
- Reduced fuel consumption
- Virtual elimination of fuel related engine failure
