Pad printing
Also known a tampographic transfer printing, is a remarkably versatile process. It offers an excellent alternative for hard-to-screen print items and a huge range of other applications.
- Pad printing will allow successful printing onto irregular three dimensional objects and items with recessed surfaces.
- Printing onto convex, concave and discontinuous surfaces is relatively easy for the Pad printing process.
- It will allow wet-on-wet multicolour printing onto non-porous surfaces
- It offers better edge definition and higher resolution than that produced by screen printing.
- The sheer extent of the range of industries where Pad printing is currently being used offers convincing proof of its versatility.
Automotive Printing
In today's car market, virtually all new vehicles contain tens of parts and components that have been Pad printed.
Some good examples include:
- Speedometer Dials,
- Tail Light Lenses,
- Fuel and Hood Release Levers,
- Fuse Blocks,
- Radio Dials,
- Climate Control Switches and Dipsticks.
Electrical Printing
Another rapidly expanding market for the Pad printing process, is the electronics industry.
- Semi conductors, resistors, surface mount devices, mobile phone displays and many other electronic components, are Pad printed with code designations and other information.
- Alpha-numeric designs on keyboards and legends on component housings are also common applications in this industry.
CD Printing
The phenomenal growth in the music industry has seen many Compact Disc manufacturers move over to the Pad printing process. Manufactures, who often can't do their decorating in-house, choose the Pad printing process due to improved image resolution, the sophistication of tooling, and the repeatability of the machinery.
Medical Printing
In the medical industry, Pad printing is being used on IV tubes, syringes and many other plastic medical goods. Consumer healthcare products are increasingly being Pad printed, particularly infant care items.
Uneven Surface Printing
Pad printing is an “indirect offset gravure” process originally used in the watch making industry in Switzerland to decorate watch faces. It has now developed to be one of the major methods for decorating the surface of flat, convex, concave and generally uneven surfaces. Pad printing can be used to decorate a variety of materials including glass, plastic, wood, and metal.
Colours and Custom Printing
At Printag Promotions we can print 1,2,3 and 4 spot colours or even four colour process on our machines in one operation. Our range of machines can be fitted with various bolt on extras to allow for single jig shuttle operations for multi colour work on small quantities, carrousel conveyors for medium quantities, linear conveyors for large quantities for longer production runs.
The in line pre treatment of plastics is also possible when required with our bolt on flaming unit. We can even arrange for custom built machine tooling if required. For example to allow components to be printed both sides in one process.
Facilities are available to make low cost printing plates in house for shorter runs or we can arrange for hardened steel plates for longer production runs.
