PILZ Automation Technology reports that the majority of its PSS programmable safety system and modules used with a SafetyBUS p safety fieldbus network have received approval for applications up to SIL (safety integrity level) 3 in accordance with the requirements of IEC 61508.
This means that the combination of a PSS and SafetyBUS p fieldbus can be used for safety-relevant control in applications up to Category 4 of EN 954-1 or SIL 3 in accordance with IEC 61508.

Now that the PSS and SafetyBUS p communications modules have been approved in line with the requirements of IEC 61508, the SafetyBUS p protocol is better placed for adoption globally. Already more than 95,000 fieldbus nodes have been installed worldwide.
