The LG-1.2 is a compact rotating luminaire goniophotometer for photometric characterisations of lamps or luminaries and is available from Photometric Solutions International . It is designed for manufacturers or institutions who do not have the space for a larger, mirror-type goniophotometer.
The sample is mounted on the goniometer and rotated around a pivot point through two axes of rotation. This presents different orientations of the test item towards a detector, mounted at a distance across the room. Through this way, the luminous flux and luminous intensity distribution (beam characteristics) of the test item is measured.
The easy-to-use software that comes with the system performs these measurements automatically and produces comprehensive reports. This includes polar curves and cartesian graphs, calculations of beam widths and efficiencies or IsoLux and IsoCandela diagrams.
The photometer that comes with the system consists of a V (lambda) corrected, temperature controlled photocell and a photocurrent amplifier with built-in analogue-to-digital converter.
As it is a rotating-luminaire system, gravity-dependant light sources such as discharge lamps require some corrections. The LG-1.2 luminaire goniophotometer is suitable for gravity-invariant light sources such as LEDs. It is also suitable for LED luminaire manufacturers or laboratories, which have only a light testing load.
