LLOYD's Register of Shipping has granted certification to the plug connectors in the Variocon range from Phoenix Contact. This means this modular plug connector system of protection class IP 67 can now also be used in marine and offshore applications.
The Variocon plug connector system is suitable for use in devices, terminal boxes and control cabinets. The range is based on modular contact inserts with screwed and PCB connections and fixed contact inserts with crimped connection.
The variable layout means that the plug connector can be optimally configured to the individual application, supported by the Pluscon-select software from Phoenix Contact.
The modular contact inserts make it possible to combine power and signal transmission in a single plug connector. The contact system corresponds to the well-known Combicon connection method.
For data transmission purposes, additional optical fibre modules can be used. The fixed contact inserts with 15 to 65 pins make use of the crimped contacts from the Heavycon D series in accordance with DIN 43652, with both turned and rolled versions being available.
Variocon bush housings provide impervious mounting directly on the wall, which means that a surface-mounting housing is not needed. This type of latching installation saves space, is easily accessible and vibrationproof, and meets the requirements of protection class IP 67.
An extensive range of accessories: sub-assembly housings, screw cable connections, marking material, protective covers, adapter plates for control cabinet cutouts and crimp contacts completes the Variocon plug connector range. Phoenix Contact 02 9524 4455.
