Pipe fittings manufacturer Philmac has appointed Tony Smith to the position of export manager. Mr Smith joins Philmac with broad experience in the water industry.
In his previous role as economic development manager with United Water International, Mr Smith developed strong networks in the global water utility sectors - Philmac's primary export market.
Philmac managing director Chris Stathy said export development was crucial to Philmac's future.
"While we remain strongly committed to providing products and services in Australia, increasingly we are focussing energy on expanding our international presence," Mr Stathy said.
"Exports are key for Philmac and because we operate in a highly competitive industry, we must ensure that we have the right people on board to drive our business forward in these markets.
"Tony brings an enormously strong combination of skills and knowledge to this important role that will certainly see Philmac continue its solid export growth."
