Tune-up grease

PERMATEX has released Dielectric Tune-Up grease, lubricant OEM-specified for use on high-energy ignition systems, especially when tuning an engine.

Dielectric is an effective barrier to moisture and protects electrical connections, ignition parts and wiring from moisture, salt, dirt and corrosion.

Permatex suggests a four-step process to protecting spark plug boots, connectors and battery terminals. To protect spark plug boots first ensure the ignition system is off, then remove heavy grease with a clean cloth. Coat the inside of spark plug boot and the ceramic portion of spark plug with a thin layer of Dielectric grease. Finally snap the boot onto the plug, making sure the fit is tight.

For connectors and battery terminals, again ensure the ignition system is off, then clean the surface with Permatex Battey Cleaner. Coat both parts of the terminal contact with Dielectric grease and reassemble, maintaining metal to metal contact.
