Whilst mineral acids such as hydrochloric acid are effective at corrosion removal they also liberate corrosive gases which accelerate damage to any unprotected material around the area of treatment.
Blast cleaning is an effective method of corrosion removal but it's not without its drawbacks. Grit embedment can cause localised corrosion cells with associated coating failure. Copper and coal slags are widely used as abrasive media but can liberate dangerous levels of heavy metals into the atmosphere around the blast cleaning operation.

Deox C rust remover
Deox C rust remover is a powder that is mixed with water up to a 20:1 ratio; one litre powder will make 20 litres of mix. Immerse your rusty parts, items, tools etc into the Deox C mixture, leave them there for up to 24 hrs and they come out clean and rust free. Deox C rust remover is environmentally safe and easy to use.
Deox C rust remover can be reused on rusted parts until the liquid goes black. Once the rust has been removed it is then a good time to use some of the POR15 rust paint products to permanently stop the rust from coming back.
Deox Gel
Deox Gel is an environmentally safe product and is a rust remover for larger items that cannot be immersed in a bucket where Deox C would be used. It is a gel that is poured or brushed on to the rusty surface, (it will adhere to vertical surfaces).
To avoid it drying out it is advised that glad wrap is placed over the top and left for up to 24 hrs. The resultant black goo can then be scraped off, the item washed, leaving a rust free surface. The results of both products are good but should be coated soon after cleaning to avoid rust returning.

Dynax S50 is a high-performance anti-corrosion wax that provides exceptionally long-lasting protection to steel surfaces. It creeps into welded seams and seals surface defects. Dynax S50 forms a soft, brown, wax-like film that self-heals in the event of disruption.
Dynax s50 anti-corrosion wax is also able to arrest existing corrosion and to provide long-term protection to pre-corroded and corrosion-free surfaces.
