Image processing is one of the most important sensor technologies of the future. The use of image processing is the realization of the dream to provide a machine with universal sensory capabilities similar in quality to the human eye. However, no other sensor technology is so diverse in its applications and so difficult to handle as image processing is.
The devices and systems range from vision sensors (e.g., datamatrix code readers) via smart cameras requiring parameterization through to system solutions that are individually adapted to meet the requirements of each application. Furthermore, the complexity of the individual solutions and the cost of integration are completely different. Therefore, finding the correct platform for providing solutions to the respective application is a central task.
With the acquisition of VMT GmbH located in Weinheim, Pepperl+Fuchs now offers the full range of image proprocessing solutions for Factory Automation. As one of the few suppliers worldwide, we are able to meet the different demands for image processing.
For some years already, Pepperl+Fuchs has offered vision sensors such as precision positioning and datamatrix code control in a robust sensor housing for quick integration in to manufacturing systems. With VMT we now also offer vision solutions for plant construction, particularly in the automotive industry.
Together with customers, the image processing specialists from VMT develop the requirements profile and implement highly complex systems for 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional robot guidance and robot track correction. Other sensor principles are also used for project implementation, as impressively demonstrated by the multisensor system for controlled assembly of parts.
VMT not only develops system solutions for the automotive industry. For example, the test system, which is certified in accordance with FDA 21 CFR Part 11, has already been successfully used repeatedly in the pharmaceuticals industry.
