PEPPERL+Fuchs GmbH continues to add weight to its acquisition policy, having recently acquired two German companies whose products complement the P+F Group activities in process automation.
Both acquisitions occurred on 1 January 2005.
The first involved EXTEC Oesterle GmbH, which specialises in intrinsically safe electronic visualisation and operating terminal systems. The iPC-Ex and Termex ranges are available from Pepperl+Fuchs (Aust), which also provides technical support and product advice in Australia and New Zealand for the industry standard intrinsically safe HMI terminals.
Also at the start of the year, P+F acquired the Stahltronic WCS (position encoding system) product range from R. Stahl AG.
These products comprise absolute linear displacement measuring systems for applications in storage and mechanical handling.
Last July, P+F acquired omnitron AG, a pioneer in photoelectric identification with datamatrix codes. The omnitron technology complemented P+F’s own RF-identification devices.
Following that acquisition, in October P+F managing director Peter Adolphs publicly stated the company’s goal was to achieve solid growth and performance above the market level.
At the time he said, “We can only achieve this if, in addition to our established products, we turn to new technologies that promise benefits in the industrial environment. The purchasing strategy has enabled us to obtain the necessary depth of experience for each of the divisions in which we provide products.”
In 2003, P+F posted a turnover of 250 million Euro. The group offers components for factory and process automation such as inductive and photoelectric sensors, identification systems, fieldbus and interface technology.
