Thermal barcode printer

PEACOCK Bros has announced the new Zebra Z4M metal casing thermal barcode label printer.

The latest member of the Zebra Z series of thermal barcode label printers, the Z4M prints up to 10 inches per second, with a maximum print width of more than 10 centimetres.

A high resolution barcode label printer (300 dpi at 12 dots per mm), it comes standard with 4Mb of dram (upgradeable to 8Mb via a PCMCIA card) and includes an RS-232C/422/485 serial port and a bi-directional parallel port. With the inclusion of Z.B.I. capabilities, the Z4M printer can also work with other thermal transfer printer brands, without changing existing source codes.

An accredited Zebra solutions partner, Peacock Bros claim the Z4M is ideal in robust and rugged environments, is easy to use, features exceptional throughput, speed and functionality, while combining unmatched application flexibility.

Managing director Neil Crump said Peacock Bros had also developed a range of integrated hardware (hand-held barcode data capture terminals plus thermal barcode label printers) and software solutions for almost any stock/inventory application or environment.

“We term these ‘pack it, print it, track it and manage it’ solutions that are tailored to retail, warehouse, distribution and manufacturing applications. ‘Quick ID’ solutions,” he said.

According to Mr Crump, for a long time the monitoring of stock movements and labelling of goods has often involved the use of large, clumsy and bulky scanners, mismatched hardware and software plus difficulties in collected data transferring across a broad range of systems.

“With our applications software, Zebra thermal barcode label printers, interfaced with powerful Symbol Palm-based or CE-based hand-held integrated barcode data capture pen terminals, our range of Quick ID solutions offer an affordable, easy-to-use and ready-to-go answer to stock and inventory labelling, tracking and management.

Because software is based on popular operating environments, Quick ID solutions enable access to database files, enabling open data transfer via ODBC or text file output, RF capabilities for point-of-activity data collection applications, and portable barcode label printing (via PA400, PT400 or Comtec portable printers).
