Rugged fixed-mount computer

A new fixed mount computer from Intermec is available from Peacock Brothers.

The CV30 is a rugged fixed-mount computer, designed for real-time data collection applications in warehousing, distribution, work-in-progress, time-and-attendance and stationary applications. Using the CV30 within warehousing or manufacturing operations, will enhance efficiency, increase safety, and improve operator performance and productivity.

By mounting the CV30 onto forklift and connecting a barcode scanner, a forklift operator will be able to manage stock movements and activities as they are performed without hindering productivity. The interface is a high-resolution, full colour touch screen wirelessly connected to the users’ inventory system, and can be programmed to deliver full stock inventory information to the fitted vehicle and then transmit back the stock activity as it occurs, to the users’ in-house system.

The CV30 allows users to select from Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 or Windows 5.0 software for Pocket PC. Both operating systems support the use of terminal emulation as well as migration to browser-based or custom applications. The versatile ADC Control Centre enables real-time decision making through integration and management or multiple types of data inputs.

Industry standard WiFi certified 802.11g radio ensures easy connectivity to existing wireless LANs with the latest in RF security protocols. The new model has a small full-screen footprint for both ease of fitting and high visibility on both vehicle-mount and stationery platforms.

Engineered to withstand the abuse of industrial environments and to satisfy user demands, the CV30 is as durable as the forklift themselves. The CV30’s cast magnesium housing, standard heated display and solid state design, provides protection exceeding industrial and military standards. The CV30 thrives in harsh environments where dust, moisture or extreme temperatures, including freezers, are constants.

Standard features include:

128MB Disk on Chip Flash memory for on-board non-volatile storage of applications and data; 163mm colour VGA 640x480 LCD touch panel screen; Touch screen heater to minimise frost/fog buildup on viewing area; 140 degree viewing angle; One touch front console user brightness; Serial, USB and RJ45 connectivity; SD memory card expansion slot; Shock and vibration protection; and 10/100 Base-T and Wireless LAN connectivity.

Australian Forklift Training focus on the common causes for forklifts tipping over forward (1-Dec-2008)
Australian Forklift Training observe that when a forklift tips forward, the back wheels keep lifting off the ground until either the forks hit the ground or the load falls off. The higher that the forks are off the ground, the further the forklift will tip until it comes to a sudden stop. If it tips forward and the load falls off, the back wheel will come crashing back down to the ground.
