INTERMEC, represented in Australia by Peacock Brothers , has released the EasyCoder PM4i desktop label printer. It is tested and designed to operate at full capacity in harsh industrial environments.
It prints at 203 dpi on labels up to 114mm wide and comes with both USB and serial interfaces as standard. It has an internal EasyLAN 100/10BaseT Ethernet card and will operate on networks that also host other brand label printers and older model Intermec printers without any changes to label formats or host programming. This makes it a cost-effective upgrade for most companies.
When the printer is connected to a PC or LAN network, fonts, firmware, label formats and tasks can be directly uploaded into the internal flash memory. Inbuilt “smart client” technology enables functions to be programmed and then later operated remotely anywhere within the workplace without a PC or LAN connection. The printer requires only a power point for operating these functions. This makes it suitable for situations when a single label printer is needed to operate in more than one location within a supply chain.
The printer offers operational programming, device and network communication, with almost instant response when remotely communicating over a standard network or connecting to a scanner or scales. It can be password protected through the front display and operation panel, removing the risk of tampering with label formats and setup.
A magnetic Quickmount printhead removes the need to call out technicians for printhead replacement. They are easily replaced and guided back into position using the supplied magnets and u-brackets to ensure proper alignment. For those who already have wireless networks or RF communications the EasyCoder PM4i can include an optional wireless 802.11b network card and/or RF receivers providing 128-bit WEP encryption, security and mobile connectivity.
