MYTOS for particle size analysis
MYTOS for particle size analysis

Particle Test  offer a wide range of instruments for particle size analysis. According to Particle Test, particle size analysis of an industrial production line can be accomplished by different arrangements of the equipment.

In-line: Sampler, disperser, and/or sensor are mounted in the production line. A partial flow of particles needed for the analysis is guided through the dispersing system and always recycled into the main production flow.

On-line: Disperser and sensor are outside of the production line but close and directly coupled. A partial flow is fed through the disperser and either recycled or disposed of.

At-line: Samples are taken from the production by a customer-specific sampler, transported and fed into a stand-alone setup of disperser and sensor, e.g. by a robot. This arrangement represents an indirect coupling of the particle sizing equipment to the process.

Sympatec offer the measuring principles of laser diffraction, image analysis, and ultrasonics extinction in robust design and a variety of arrangements for process applications:

MYTOS in-line/on-line/at-line laser diffraction for dry powders
Within the past twenty years laser diffraction has become the dominating technique in particle sizing. In earlier days off-line particle size analysers have been adapted by sampler couplers to process pipes.

Today MYTOS combines the core technology of the well established HELOS laser diffraction sensor and the proven RODOS dry disperser in rugged, industrial design to the advanced in-line laser diffraction unit for dry powders from 0.25 to 3500 µm. It can be combined with TWISTER, the innovative in-line representative sampler, or adapted to existing samplers and/or dry powder feeders VIBRI.

For granulates or fragile particles MYTIS is the choice. Similar to MYTOS, it combines the HELOS technology with the gravity disperser GRADIS in a single robust instrument covering the size range from 0.5 to 10,000µm.

PICTOS on-line/at-line image analysis for dry powders
If shape information becomes important or rare events have to be monitored, high speed dynamic image analysis is the preferred method of choice. PICTOS combines the core technology of the well established QICPIC image analysis sensor and the proven RODOS dry disperser in rugged, industrial design to the state of the art on-line image analysis unit for dry powders from 5 to 10,000µm.

It can be combined with TWISTER, the innovative in-line representative sampler, or adapted to existing samplers and/or dry powder feeders VIBRI/L. For granulates or fragile particles PICTIS is the choice. Similar to PICTOS it combines the QICPIC technology with the gravity disperser GRADIS/L in a single robust instrument covering the size range from 0.5 to 3500µm.

OPUS in-line/on-line Ultrasonic Extinction for highly concentrated suspensions
For highly concentrated suspensions and emulsions laser diffraction requires dilution, which quite often will change the product properties. Using the Ultrasonic Extinction based OPUS sensor this limitation does not exist. OPUS is the advanced solution for in-line particle size analysis of undiluted suspensions and emulsions from 0.01 to 3000 µm up to 70%Vol.

SAFIR on-line laser diffraction with auto-dilution
For low concentrated suspensions or for applications where laser diffraction is the only validated particle sizing technique, SAFIR combines the HELOS laser diffraction sensor and the core parts of the SUCELL wet disperser as well as a large sample reservoir, which provides powerful ultrasonic dispersion, constant stirring and auto-dilution in case the original process concentration is too high. SAFIR comes as a compact IP54 box and can be adapted to existing sampling points or operated as a stand alone unit in industrial environments.
