Papermaking is a very industrialised process and has the potential to impact unfavourably on the environment - particularly the world's forests, waterways and soils. As a major Australian manufacturer of paper roll products, Paper Rolls Australia, however, is very proud to announce its recent accreditation in becoming Forest Chain of Custody (CoC) certified with two environmentally-focused organisations who have developed international systems for regulating responsible and sustainable forest management.
The FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) and the PEFC™ (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification) both work tirelessly to promote responsible forest management world-wide, helping to eliminate the destruction of and maintain the natural environments of forests, animals and native people all around the globe. The Chain of Custody program certifies extensive areas of native forest across the world and has a system in place to track wood and wood-based products from their origin in the forest throughout the entire supply chain to the end user.
Obtaining CoC certification is a lengthy process and stringent ongoing processes and procedures must be followed to ensure its continuance. Paper Rolls Australia believes it is a well worthwhile cause, however, and encourages more manufacturers of forest-based products to follow suit. Holding CoC certification with both these international bodies means that Paper Rolls Australia can now offer customers a choice about the type of paper products that they choose to buy.
Choosing to buy certified paper products endorsed with the official FSC® or PEFC™ trademark logos means that the customer is choosing paper roll products that don’t add to the destruction of natural environments, but that help support responsible forestry processes and contribute to global conservation.
