When Lincolnshire Field Products needed to enhance production to meet increased demand from a United Kingdom retailer, buying quality, British made equipment was an important factor in its decision to purchase a third tray sealer from Packaging Automation .
Packaging Automation, whose equipment is distributed in Australia by MPI, supplied a Vision 400 to seal the additional thousands of packs of cauliflower florets, broccoli florets, purple sprouting broccoli and mixed vegetables supplied to a major supermarket, Asda, throughout the UK every week. It is the third Vision 400 tray sealer in operation at Lincolnshire Field Products.
Reducing costs while coping with the additional capacity, reliability and previous experience of Packaging Automation's ideal after-sales service were other factors for Lincolnshire Field Products, which possesses a turnover of around £85 million per year and farms in excess of 11,000 acres.
The food company, which currently employs over 200 people, has been supplying Asda with top quality produce for more than 15 years.
Operations manager Steve Bates explained: "We needed a machine which was reliable and able to cope with the increased capacity, while at the same time keeping costs low.”
Steve Bates said, “The Vision 400 meets all this criteria and of course is British made, which was another important factor. We have used Packaging Automation before and we did not need to look elsewhere."
The new machine is sealing 12,000 packs of vegetables a day and Mr Bates is impressed by its performance. He said: "It is working well. It is operator friendly and the back-up service from PA has been ideal as always. I would definitely recommend them to others."
