The Packaging Council of Australia (PCA) has submitted its report to the Productivity Commission’s inquiry on waste management and resource efficiency.

Issues covered in the submission include waste, recycling and the role of packaging; the waste hierarchy, The National Packaging Covenant situation, target setting, Container Deposit Legislation (CDL), and comparisons between Australia and Europe and the compatibility of data.

Other issues include new technologies such as RFID and bio-based plastics, and local governments’ role in waste collection, institutional and regulatory barriers.
