Safe food packaging is an important issue and when a major UK high street retailer wanted film to replace lids on their punnets of fresh raspberries and strawberries, a Scottish soft fruit producer turned to the tray sealing experts at Packaging Automation (UK). Packaging Automation equipment are distributed by MPI in Australia.
Geoffrey Bruce, based in Meigle, Perthshire, hired Packaging Automation's Vision 400 high speed tray sealer to fulfil an order from their customer for new look cartons following the retailer's concerns that lidded containers of soft fresh fruit were not as tamper evident as a film sealed pack.
After being put through its paces at Packaging Automation's Cheshire base, the Vision 400 high speed tray sealer was installed at Geoffrey Bruce's Balmyle site where it is sealing 227gm, 300gm and 400gm containers of raspberries and strawberries at up to 60 punnets a minute.
The fully automatic Vision 400 high speed tray sealer has good features like quick tool changes, easy to use touch screen and menu driven operation.
It can seal plain or printed film to CPET, APET, aluminium foil, polypropylene, PVC and board. It combines flexibility and simplicity, as well as the benefits of compact dimensions, two minute tool changes and advanced control systems.
In addition to atmospheric packing, the Vision 400 high speed tray sealer can be used in applications requiring MAP-F, MAP-V and high oxygen flushing, making it suitable for a wide range of meat, poultry, fresh produce and convenience foods.
