Pacific Hoists presents Kylan coated corrosion resistant winches suitable for use in outdoor, marine and various harsh environments.
Part of the Pacific hand winches family, the Kylan coated corrosion resistant winches are designed to offer longer life and greater reliability.
The OPC Kylan coating is a unique process that uses baked-on, non-toxic, environment-friendly, organic, macromolecular monomer coating compound in combination with aluminium and zinc to provide a highly corrosion resistant coating on steel.
The OPC Kylan coated stainless steel fasteners and fittings on all the winches ensure that the corrosion resistant winches can stand up to over 1000 hours of salt spray testing.
Protective coatings provide corrosion resistance to metallic parts made of steel, zinc and aluminium alloys or brass. Since these coatings can provide high corrosion resistance through the intended life of the part in use, it is necessary to check this by other means than normal outside exposure.
An international standardised test method used to check the corrosion resistance of coated samples, the Salt Spray Test produces an accelerated corrosive attack on the coated samples in order to predict its suitability as a protective finish. The appearance of corrosion on the products is evaluated after a period of time.
The test duration depends on the resistance of the coating; the more resistant the coating is, the longer the period in testing without showing signs of corrosion.
After 1,000 hours of the Salt Spray Test, the Pacific hand winches did not show any sign of corrosion and the coating was still intact.
Both Pacific brake winches and Pacific general purpose hand winches are available with Kylan coating at a very competitive price compared to the more expensive option of stainless steel.
Pacific Hoists will continue to supply the powder-coated and stainless steel options in addition to the noiseless model in the brake winches range, which is now also available with the OPC Kylan coating.
The Pacific hand winches will also come with the QR Code introduced by Pacific Hoists last week. The user can access specifications, technical drawings and instruction manuals of the product simply by scanning the code.
This information can be saved on the user’s smartphone or accessed again by re-scanning the code.
