The RockBLOCK, available from Pacific Data Systems is a new plug-and-play device designed to eliminate concerns about access and control of electrical systems in areas with poor network coverage.
The RockBLOCK uses the Iridium satellite network to offer two-way data communications, extending communications where there may have previously been intermittent or no coverage.
Potential applications for the RockBLOCK device include transmitting weather information from remote weather stations located in the middle of the ocean; controlling machinery and robotic equipment in the middle of the desert; transmission of tide height monitoring data in poor network coverage areas; and emergency data transmission during emergencies, when other networks may not be available.
RockBLOCK is making satellite data communications an affordable option through a low monthly access charge and pre-paid message credits. With no lock-in contracts, end-users can simply activate and deactivate the RockBLOCK on-demand to control costs.
Pacific Data Systems can assist with integrating the RockBLOCK device into existing systems as well as provide complete monitoring and data transmission systems such as water monitoring and weather stations.
