A new portable artesian well monitoring system developed by Pacific Data Systems measures flow and pressure from artesian wells and logs the data for further analysis.
Designed to meet the requirements of a customer in the Central Queensland region, the system is used to monitor the change in status of an artesian well, and also monitors flow and pressure when the exit valve is open, as well as the back pressure of the well when the valve is closed.
The artesian well monitoring system uses a multivariable vortex flow meter with integrated volumetric flow, temperature, pressure, density, and mass flow readings. The all-in-one flow meter reduces the complexity and upfront capital cost for customers.
The flow meter conducts all the necessary air flow, temperature, pressure and density calculations internally before transmitting the data via Modbus to the logging system housed in a rugged, waterproof enclosure. Customers can download data directly via USB from the logging system; alternatively the system can be configured with 3G or satellite telemetry for remote data download to a PC, tablet or smartphone.
The artesian well monitoring system can be manufactured for permanent installation, and also incorporate a range of other sensors such as weather and water monitoring devices to extend the functionality of the system.
The artesian well monitoring system has been well received by customers with one client providing feedback that the logging system was easy to use and ‘idiot-proof’.
