Sumner County Emergency Medical Services in Tennesse, USA, has announced that it will be using Motion Computing's new F5 rugged tablet PC, available from POSMarket.com.au , as their mobile field tool, which will enable them greater access to patient data.
After finding data collection in the area of patient billing increasingly difficult, Sumner County Emergency Medical Services upgraded their hardware to support improved software. They found the Motion Computing F5 rugged tablet PC met their needs with its rugged design, barcode scanner, RFID reader, fingerprint scanner and digital camera.
This new complement of rugged tablet PC and its loaded software has improved the billing process and patient care at the medical centre. Patients simply sign a digital form directly on the tablet when they get onto the transport vehicle. While in transit the data is collected and sent to hospital staff, so it is there upon arrival. The hospital can then digitally sign any forms upon arrival and everything is updated immediately and sent to billing.
This streamlining has saved Sumner County Emergency Medical Services $2 million and has improved billing cycle times by 40%.
"We are now billing back 96% which is incredible," says Michael Cook, Sumner County 's IT manager.
According to Cook many of the other rugged tablet PCs on the market had too many moving parts, were not rugged enough, or were too small for the use they needed them for. The Motion Computing F5 rugged tablet PC's fully sealed design and virtual keyboard on a large screen with integrated handle made it the right choice for Sumner County Emergency Medical Services.
