Newcastle Playgroup sells OzKleen products to raise funds
Aussie-owned company OzKleen has helped a Newcastle Playgroup remain operational, due to the product packs valued at $325 that it donated as part of a giveaway it ran in conjunction with Playgroup NSW.
Newcastle Little Munchkins Playgroup Member Kylie Roebuck said that due to a drop in membership, their playgroup was facing closure because members were unable to cover the cost of hall rental.
“By selling the OzKleen products to family and friends we have covered the cost of our rent and ensured the continuity of Newcastle Little Munchkins Playgroup,” Roebuck said.
“We are all grateful for OzKleen’s generosity in providing NSW Playgroups with OzKleen products for our fundraising purposes.”
Roebuck, who is a mother of two boys Aiden aged three and Byron aged one who both suffer from eczema and allergies, said she was very conscious of using products that were free from harsh chemicals like chlorine, caustic soda, phosphates and ammonia.
“Both of my boys also have asthma, so I’m quite careful about the sorts of products I use around the house,” she said.
“Even before we participated in this giveaway, I was already a fan of Shower Power because I could wash the bath and put the boys in the same day without worrying about aggravating their eczema.”
With the hall rent sorted out and some spare dollars now in the kitty, the Newcastle Little Munchkins plan to use left-over funds raised from this promotion toward purchasing some new musical equipment for the children.
“We’ve attracted some new members during the past few weeks, so we’re hoping with our improved financial position, our playgroup will now grow,” she said.
“The products were so easy to sell – they’re so practical and family-friendly and everyone loved the fact the company was Australian owned and operated.
“I bought some of the products myself including Power Wipes which I tried out on the weekend on my car’s interior.
“I was amazed at how well the little dots on the wipe lifted up all the dirt and grime that had accumulated – definitely a handy product to keep in the glove box when you’ve got little boys.”
OzKleen received about 300 applications for their product giveaways bringing the retail value of its donation to almost $100,000 (not including transport costs which OzKleen also covered).
All product packs have now been delivered throughout regional, rural and metropolitan New South Wales.
The packs contained the full range of OzKleen products including x8 Shower Power 750 ml, x8 Shower Power Pine 750ml, x8 Shower Power Trigger 500ml, x8 Shower Power Pine Trigger 500ml, x8 Carpet Power 500ml trigger, x6 Grease Monkey Trigger 225ml, x8 Prewash Power Trigger 375ml and x9 Power Wipe 24's.
With each pack worth $325, playgroups were able to sell products contained in the packs to raise money either for themselves or for other worthwhile community projects.
Allergy, child and environmentally friendly, all products contained within the pack are developed, manufactured and packaged in Australia, are 100% biodegradable and free from chlorine, ammonia, phosphates and other toxic fumes.
OzKleen’s Managing Director said OzKleen had opted to do this giveaway because he believed playgroups provided the perfect environment for children and families to interact.
“Rather than handing our advertising dollars over to radio and TV stations, we thought we would experiment with this grassroots style campaign that hopefully promotes our products via word-of-mouth, while at the same time supporting a worthwhile cause,” Quinn said.
“We’re a family-owned and run business, so it suits our philosophy.”
Playgroup NSW Chief Executive Deb Ryan said she congratulated OzKleen for its initiative to offer its support to the 1200 playgroups throughout the state.
“Both in the city and the country, playgroups provide an excellent place for families to connect with the community,” Ryan said.
“Playgroups rely on volunteers to operate and we are pleased that the packs provided by OzKleen have helped playgroups raise money.”
