Cleaning industry success story OzKleen Asia Pacific has built a new $5 million manufacturing facility at
Ormeau to meet the demands of expanding domestic and export markets.
The new 3,600 square-metre floor premises will enable the 100 per cent Queensland-owned company to increase its production capacity fourfold from 840,000 bottles per week to 3 million bottles per week, while also allowing it to add new products to its range.
The impressive structure, with its extremely bold "Shock" branding, has already become a landmark along the Pacific Highway during the Brisbane-Gold Coast drive.
OzKleen Director Tom Quinn said all OzKleen's cleaning products were still developed, manufactured and bottled in Queensland, which meant the local market reaped the economic benefits.
"This new factory provides the capacity to continue to push OzKleen's export drive into Europe, while retaining full quality control of our products," Mr Quinn said.
"We already have plans for stage two, which will add a further 2,550 square-metres to the floor and further increase production capacity.
"Our expansion has been driven by our customers, who are loyal to our products because they are environmentally friendly, yet extremely effective and easy to use."
The premises will feature five production lines, to be designed and built by OzKleen's in-house engineer.
Specialist factory builder Spaceframe undertook the construction of the factory on the 1.2ha site at Lahr's Road, just off the Pacific Highway.
OzKleen will continue to operate from its existing premises, just five kilometres north of the new site, until the instalment of the production line in two months time.
The building itself has been completed and the administration offices were relocated to the premises in April this year.
Owned and operated by two Queensland families, each with two generations working within the business, OzKleen competes directly with multinational organizations.
OzKleen became a global player after the launch of its flagship product, Shower Power, which has been the number-one selling product in Australian supermarkets in the "household cleaner" category since 1997.
The company has since gone on to produce other successful products, Shower Power Pine, Kitchen Power, Carpet Power, Flushies, Prewash Power and more recently, oven and rangehood cleaner "Grease Monkey".
All OzKleen products are free from caustic soda, bleach and ammonia.
OzKleen exports its quality products to supermarkets around the world and has won countless awards for its enviable business achievements, including the British Chamber of Commerce's Award for Export Excellence for the past three years running and the 2003 Gold Coast Exporter of the Year Award, among many others.
