Orbit Communications has introduced a new standalone solution designed to continuously monitor server room temperature and mains power.
Australia is experiencing some of the hottest days on record for this time of year and is headed for a sizzling summer. It is therefore critical for companies to ensure their server room stays within acceptable temperature limits for continued operation of their systems and access to valuable information required by the organisation.
Air-conditioning failure is one of the most common causes of over-temperature conditions in a server room, and could be triggered by something as simple as a blown fuse, which could be fixed in a matter of minutes. However, if the problem is not notified in time, the system can shut down.
Orbit Communications’ new Serverlert system is a standalone server room temperature monitoring system that continuously monitors the server room temperature and mains power. The system instantly sends an SMS alert to up to 10 mobile phones in the event of an issue. A notification sent directly to maintenance staff could ensure the issue is rectified immediately, preventing expensive downtime and possible loss of data or equipment damage.
In addition to over-temperature notification, the system also provides mains failure alert and the ability to read the current temperature at any time from any mobile phone for peace of mind.
