Rustex, available from Onsite Industrial Distributors , treats rust present on iron or steel surfaces into a firmly based foundation suitable for any paint system. Rustex also acts as a primer for a variety of materials and can be applied over intact paintwork. It can be used on damp metal or in humid conditions, and is suitable for corrosive industrial or marine atmospheres.
Pre-treatment with Rustex can treat rust on iron or steel surfaces irrespective of the conditions. Rustex functions by a chain of chemical reactions. Its solvents and acids first penetrate and dissolve any rust present on the metal surface, and then combine with a thin layer of sound metal, to form a stable, water-insoluble, iron tannate compound which cannot rust. This in turn is absorbed and bonded by the resins, which dry and harden to form a thin and tough protective coating to which paint can adhere strongly.
Rustex can be applied by first brushing down the rusty surface. The users need to wait for the completion of the chemical reaction and then paint over dryed surface with decorative or protection paint. Rustex is suitable for industrial, automotive, marine and mining areas.
