On Site Gas Systems Australia says the company was thrilled to be awarded this project as their supplier in the USA, On Site Gas Systems Inc has one of their own gas generators installed in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and it seemed fitting that they also had a system in a renowned museum locally.
The Australian Museum had the onsite nitrogen generator installed to feed its controlled atmosphere chamber for preservation and conservation of various pieces. The chamber required an uninterrupted flow of high purity nitrogen gas over long periods of time and was perfectly suited to an onsite nitrogen generation system.
On Site Gas Systems supplied the museum with a turnkey system that consisted of a feed air compressor, air preparation system such as air dryer, tanks, a nitrogen generator as well as required flow meters and valves for control.
Historically, the museum was using cylinder gas, which meant that they would have to constantly monitor gas levels in the cylinders, change out cylinders when they were empty and cart cylinders from the loading dock to the point of use, which poses a significant occupational health and safety risk in addition to inconvenience, time wastage and expense.
Switching to onsite nitrogen generation has also reduced the museum’s gas costs by about 80-90%.
