OMNITRONICS has announced its latest and greatest extension to its Audio Bridge product line – the intelligent audio bridge.

The existing Omnitronics 619 GI & EI audio bridges operate as a basic fixed switch matrix.

The new intelligent audio bridge, boasts microprocessor control, which means complete user-configurability and dynamic control of the unit through software.

Key features are: Local or remote bridge re-programming, where all the functions and parameters of the controller are programmable using a Windows application.

Fast keying for multi-hop radio links, a more efficient way of keying up a radio network chain while avoiding long delays caused by consecutive sub-audible tones.

Local bridge configuration provides the ability to re-configure the bridge according to the state of six digital input lines or on detection of various CTCSS tones.

Remote bridge configuration provides similar functions but through the radio using DTMF signalling.

System Splitting using DTMF. This simple feature allows remote bridge configuration to prevent the whole network from transmitting when there is only a requirement for local traffic.

Timers for PTT Delay. Timers are provided on each incoming Mute for delaying or extending PTT keying duration thereby allowing the user to tune the network.

Heartbeat/Voting Pulse Generator. The controller will be able to generate a periodic heartbeat or voting pulse by keying appropriate transmitters and issuing a tone. Real Time Clock allows for the scheduling of functions such as the heartbeat. This is useful for reducing power consumption at solar powered sites. CTCSS Encoding is also available on all channels using a multitude of frequencies.

The main application of the bridge is to link one radio to another, thus making up a repeater type application.

Other application types include: linking landlines together; creating a star network; audio device (mixer/splitter - not high fidelity); Site Monitoring (ie switching base stations on and off during testing) and so on.
