OTB Products has released Gelpact footwear inserts and knee pads, employing material used by manufacturers of personal protection equipment for extreme sports to reduce impact injuries to the feet of people in industries prone to foot impact injuries.
The inserts are aimed at industries including architecture, building and construction, engineering, government, nursing, railway track maintenance, electrical, farming, food and beverage and hospitality. They are also suited to materials handling, manufacturing and metal working, mining and resources, police and emergency services, security guards, restaurant staff, primary production, property, retail, transport, workshops and warehousing.
Gelfom-filled anti-vibration gloves and Gelpact Manual Handling Gloves are also designed to prevent the serious long-term damage to nerves, tendons, muscle and bone that can result where workers are not protected appropriately against vibration and impact.
Many injury-prone industries use safety and anti-fatigue matting, but this type of protection can't stand up and travel around the workplace, especially when the workplace is extensive, inaccessible, remote or under construction.
Gelpact protection is inserted into the foot beds of OTB's flat or contoured shoe and boot inserts and into its knee protection pads. Gelpact provides constant impact cushioning for the foot's heel and ball strike zones. Contoured body glove insoles are suitable for all shoes and boots, while flat contour insoles are more suited to rubber boots and other footwear with no support.
Kinetic knee pads with Gelpact are designed to glide across work surfaces without bottoming out. Their orthopaedic design uses pliable foam to surround and cushion the knee and stabilise it, reducing painful movement of the kneecap.
They are designed for comfortable use in a variety of climates and workplaces, their smooth, high-impact urethane shell is secured by wide, Velcro-adjustable elastic straps.
Decade's Contour Gelpact knee shield was developed for the aviation industry with a wide flat surface suitable for loading baggage inside the aircraft where lifting from a kneeling position increases the chance of injury.
