Con-Space rescue probe, available from OTB Products , is a cylindrical, watertight, shock resistant microphone used for locating and communicating with trapped victims in a structural collapse.
The Con-Space rescue probe has a cylindrical design to allow penetration into rubble piles or debris, thus allowing rescuers to reach structural collapse victims and establish a continuous line of two way voice communication with them during their rescue.
Victims in a collapsed structure have reported hearing rescuers moving close by and were not able to make the rescuers hear them, even when shouting. A sensitive omni-directional microphone gives rescuers another set of ‘ears’ that can be positioned deep within a collapse. The speaker provides a comforting voice to those trapped below. The Con-Space rescue probe has the following features:
- Can be lowered into a void or shaft using couplers and rope
- Probe can remain with a trapped victim(s) during long operations
- Can be used with Con-Space hardline communication systems
